WESTPORT — When a more compact, more mature residence in city is sold to a developer, it is typically knocked down to make way for a greater residence.

“It occurs continuously,” stated Danielle Dobin, the Setting up and Zoning Commission’s chairwoman. “A large part of the homes demolished are historic houses.”

Commission customers are doing work to discover that stability of preserving Westport’s historic constructions while also adding new economical housing.

“If we preserve anything in amber, absolutely nothing is altered — then Westport results in being a museum,” Dobin claimed, introducing she also does not want to see Westport created like a town and shed the suburban options persons appreciate.
